We call these wind farms and there is a lot of controversy around them. Like the photo, thanks See.

Windmills have been used to pump up water, grind grain & a few other things along those lines & are still being used that way, but now we also make power! Thanks, Sue for the photo & puzzle.

Hi Big Red. Three main issues - pitch of the noise, and as they are generally wanted to be placed along the coast, interfering with the natural flight paths of birds and the aesthetics. If you google windfarms, victoria (or australia)various sights will come up. It has also been a political issue between federal and VIctorian State Governments.
